Content Updates and Site Improvements

While it may not show on the front page, I have just started moving over more content from my closed community site. To be up to date with what I've been up to and moving over, please be sure to check the "Recent" block over on the right. I decided to add some of my old vampire content over because I figured it was good information and someone may appreciate it, instead of it just drifting off the internet. The movie review database will slowly be moved over as well.

Obviously I've been playing around with a new site template. It's not quite completed yet. But I will be working quite heavily on it this fall. If all goes as expected, it will look quite different than it does now.

The Summer Blahs

I apologize for not being so active recently. It seems my depression that I usually go through during the summer has hit me big time this year. I have cabin fever so badly I can taste it! Our summer here has been very hot, we've had numerous days of over 90 degree weather with a heat index around 110 - 115 degrees. If it's not miserably hot outside, it's raining or storming. We also had flooding here where I live. Worse then past floods that Iowa is notorious for. We lost our electricity a couple of weekends ago for 9 1/2 hours. The only thing you could do is get in your car and drive around with the A/C on to cool off. Ended up spending around $60.00 on battery operated fans and batteries for flash lights and radios and came home to find the electricity had just come back on!

On Those Seasons of Renewal

Autumn in New England
There are certain times of the year that tend to bring about very warm feelings of affection as well as eliciting feelings of a true inner love between so many people. Some do so adore the winter time, some certainly relish in the color and the crisp season of autumn. Some wait with yearly anticipation for the entrance of the Christmas season so that they can tide all of their yule's to last them through until the next one while others still, wish and wait in anticipation for the yearly entrance of spring. Yes, holidays and seasons signal so much for so many, and why not? There are so many reasons to adore the path of life and to want to experience as much as one can. Especially when the particular season that one loves so much matches the texture of the personality. This is why the autumn season matches this author's personality so much.

Atlantis - The Lost Continent

Atlantis

The Capital of Atlantis as Described by Plato

The story of the lost continent of Atlantis starts in 355 B.C. with the Greek philosopher Plato. Plato had planned to write a trilogy of books discussing the nature of man, the creation of the world, and the story of Atlantis, as well as other subjects. Only the first book was ever completed. The second book was abandoned part way through, and the final book was never even started.

Plato used a series of dialogues to express his ideas. In this type of writing, the author's thoughts are explored in a series of arguments and debates between various characters in the story. Plato often used real people in his dialogues, such as his teacher, Socrates, but the words he gave them were his own. A character named Kritias tells an account of Atlantis that has been in his family for generations. According the character the story was originally told to his ancestor Solon, by a priest during Solon's visit to Egypt.

The Wolfman (2010)

The Wolfman 2010

Over the weekend, I got a chance to watch the remake of the 1941 movie, The Wolfman. While I have to admit, it's been a long time since I've watched the original, I do remember that the remake is a different telling of the story. However, if you love classic horror movies, then you will definitely love this remake. The cinematography is magnificent. Universal has brought back the style of the old horror movies. The sets, the lighting, the story telling is of the forties, but updated special effects makes this remake a must see. I highly recommend this one if you are a fan of the grand old horror movies from the thirties and forties and the old Hammer movies of the seventies.
